How to use the Traffic Filter

Traffic Filter

Traffic Filter is a feature that allows you to control which video is displayed to each visitor, based on specific conditions such as origin, language, device, and other advanced criteria. In addition, it features automatic bot filtering, helping to protect your offers and increase the longevity of your ad accounts.

How it works

The filter works in two ways:

Multiple criteria display control

You can configure one or more of the filters below:

  • Browser Language: Defines the language(s) that can view the main video.
  • Allowed Countries: Restricts access to the main VSL to visitors from specific countries.
  • Traffic Sources: Displays the main VSL only to visitors from defined origins (e.g., Google, Facebook, etc.).
  • Devices: Allows you to select on which devices (Desktop, Tablet, Mobile) the main video will be displayed.
  • URL Key: Requires the link to have a specific key to release the main video.
  • Access Token: Defines that only users with a valid token can watch the main VSL.
  • Redirect Video (Safe Video): Alternative content displayed to those who do not meet the criteria above.

If the visitor meets all the configured conditions, they will see the main VSL. Otherwise, they will see the safe video.

Example:

If you are advertising in the United States and you want only those who access from the US, have their browser configured in English, and come from Google to see your offer, you just need to configure these filters. Any visitor who does not meet these conditions will see the safe video.

Automatic bot filtering

Enabled by default, no configuration required by the client.

Detected bots automatically receive the safe video — a “light” content that follows the policies of the main traffic sources (Google, Meta, etc.). This reduces the risk of blocks, as bots and ad checkers see a neutral offer (white hat), while the real audience sees the original VSL.

Benefits

  • Protection against plagiarism: Only the defined audience sees the main offer.
  • Increased ad account longevity: Bots see a secure video, reducing the risk of blocks.
  • More control over targeting: Multiple access criteria.
  • Immediate application: Bot filtering is already enabled.

How to configure the Traffic Filter

  1. Access your VTurb account dashboard.
  2. Choose the video you want to protect.
  3. Activate the Traffic Filter option.
  4. Define the desired filters:

  • Browser Language
  • Allowed Countries
  • Traffic Sources
  • Devices
  • URL Key
  • Access Token

  1. Choose the redirect video (which will be displayed to those who do not meet the activated filters).
  2. Save the changes.

Analytics for each video

Even when using the Traffic Filter, it is possible to access the Analytics of each video normally (both the main VSL and the safe video). This means you can track, separately for each one:

  • Views
  • Playback rate
  • Average time watched
  • Conversion rate
  • Traffic sources
  • Access devices
  • Visitor location
  • Interaction events (play, pause, completion, etc.)

These metrics help you understand the performance of each content and optimize your strategy more precisely.

Usage tips

  • Combine several filters to increase protection.
  • Use a safe video different from the main offer.
  • Test with a VPN or URL parameters to validate the configuration.
  • In the case of YouTube ads, this function can significantly help in account maintenance.
