How to Use Benchmarks to Analyze Your Video Performance

Benchmarks is a VTurb feature that uses data from similar videos to show how your video's performance compares to market benchmarks.

With Benchmarks, you can analyze key metrics such as retention, play rate, engagement, and conversion, helping you identify opportunities for improvement based on performance benchmarks within your niche.

Why Use Benchmarks?

Benchmarks helps you:

  • See whether your video is outperforming or underperforming compared to similar videos in your market.
  • Identify opportunities to improve retention and engagement.
  • Compare your performance with other videos in the same niche.
  • Make data-driven decisions based on real market insights.
  • Validate changes made to your VSL or Upsell.

How to Access Benchmarks

  1. Log in to your VTurb account.
  2. Open the video you want to analyze.
  3. Click Analytics in the left-hand menu.
  4. Select Benchmarks and apply the Video Type and Niche Type filters.

Which Metrics Can You Compare?

The main metrics available include:

  • Play Rate
  • Engagement
  • Conversion Rate
  • 25% Retention
  • 50% Retention
  • Overall Video Retention
  • Retention Curve Comparison

In addition to the raw numbers, VTurb also highlights whether a metric is performing at an Excellent, Average, Below Market Median or Low level compared to the market.

Understanding the Retention Graph

The retention graph displays two lines:

🟢 Your Retention

🔵 Market Median

This allows you to see exactly where your video is performing better or worse than similar videos.

If the green line stays above the blue line throughout most of the video, it means your content is retaining viewers better than the market average.

Who Can Use Benchmarks?

The Benchmarks feature is available exclusively to customers on the following plans:

  • Scale
  • Enterprise

If you're on a different plan, you'll need to upgrade your subscription to access this feature.

Tips for More Accurate Comparisons

  • Always select the niche that best matches your content.
  • Use the most relevant sub-niche whenever one is available.
  • Compare VSLs with other VSLs and Upsells with other Upsells.
  • Review data over consistent time periods before drawing conclusions.
  • Use the insights to test new hooks, offers, and video structures.
  • To improve your Play Rate, run automatic tests using Smart Autoplays and different headlines.
  • To boost engagement, run automatic Turbo tests to identify the best-performing version of your video.

That's It!

You now know how to use Benchmarks to see how your videos compare to the market and uncover opportunities to improve performance and drive better results. 🚀
