How to connect the VTurb MCP to your AI assistant

How to connect the VTurb MCP to your AI assistant

What is the VTurb MCP

With the VTurb MCP, you connect your AI assistant (such as Claude or Cursor) to your VTurb account and ask, in plain language, for things you currently do in the dashboard.

MCP is an open standard that lets AI assistants use tools from other services. In practice, once connected, you can write something like "what were my 5 videos with the most conversions in the last 30 days?" or "upload my drive to the VTurb dashboard" and the assistant pulls the answer straight from your account or performs the action, without you having to open the dashboard.

The server is hosted by VTurb itself: there is nothing to install, and you don't need to copy any API key. Access is granted by logging in to VTurb through your browser.

Before you start

You need three things:

  • An active VTurb account. You will log in using the same email and password that you use to access the dashboard.
  • To be a member of the company you want to operate. The assistant only sees the companies that the logged-in user is a member of. The actions you can perform depend on your member type and permissions on the account.
  • An AI assistant that supports remote MCP, such as Claude, Cursor, VS Code, Gemini CLI, Codex or Zed.

How to connect

Every assistant connects through the same address:

https://mcp.vturb.com/mcp

In Claude (web and Desktop)

  1. Go to Settings → Connectors and click Add custom connector.

  1. For the name, enter VTurb. For the URL, paste https://mcp.vturb.com/mcp. Click Continue.

  1. The VTurb login page opens in your browser. Sign in with your account and approve the connection.

  1. In a conversation, click the + next to the message box, open Connectors and turn on VTurb.

In other assistants

The address is always the same; what changes is where it is configured.

Assistant

Where to configure

Claude Code

Run claude mcp add --transport http vturb ``https://mcp.vturb.com/mcp, then /mcp

Cursor

.cursor/mcp.json file, with the url field

VS Code

.vscode/mcp.json file, with "type": "http" and url

Gemini CLI

~/.gemini/settings.json file, with the httpUrl field

Codex, Zed and others

Through the npx -y mcp-remote ``https://mcp.vturb.com/mcp bridge

Full configuration examples for each assistant are in the official VTurb MCP documentation.

Note: each assistant uses a different field name for the URL. Copying the configuration from one to another without adjusting that field prevents the connection.

First use

The first time the assistant uses a VTurb tool, it opens the VTurb login in your browser so you can approve the connection. After that, access renews on its own.

  • Check the account before approving. The assistant will operate with the VTurb account that approves the connection, regardless of the email used in the AI assistant.
  • Start by asking for your companies. Every action happens inside a company. Ask something like "list my companies on VTurb" and tell the assistant which one to work in.
  • You only see what you can use. The available tools match the actions enabled for your company.

What you can do

The MCP covers much of what you do in the dashboard: checking results, adjusting players and organizing your account.

Area

What the assistant does

Example request

Analytics

Ranks videos by plays or conversions, full metrics for a video, retention and daily series

"What are my top 10 videos by conversions this month?"

A/B tests

Creates, starts and tracks tests, with results per variant and traffic split adjustment

"How is the A/B test for the new VSL going? Which variant is winning?"

Player settings

Adjusts appearance, CTAs, mini-hooks, Facebook and Google pixels, traffic filter and smart autoplay

"Add my Facebook pixel to video X."

Videos

Lists, duplicates, moves and imports videos from a public URL

"Duplicate video X and move the copy to the Tests folder."

Files and folders

Uploads images and .vtt subtitles (up to 20 MB) and organizes folders

"Create a folder called November Launch."

The full list of tools is in the official documentation.

Security

The assistant never changes anything in your account without showing you the change first and waiting for your confirmation.

  • Deletions require explicit confirmation. Deleting an A/B test or a folder only happens after you confirm.
  • Importing from a link is confirmed first. It is the only action that reaches outside your account, so the assistant asks you to confirm the URL.
  • Be careful with A/B tests. Starting a test is irreversible: you can't pause it, only delete it. And deleting a test makes the embed stop working and loses the results.

Common issues

What happens

What to check

The assistant can't find any company

Check that the account that approved the connection is a member of a company. If your browser was logged in to another VTurb account, log out of it, remove the connector and connect again.

"User is not a member of the company" error

The connected account is not part of that company. Ask to be invited or reconnect with the right account.

VTurb tools don't show up in the conversation (Claude)

Turn on the connector in the conversation's + → Connectors menu.

The connection doesn't work in Cursor, VS Code or Gemini CLI

Check the URL field name in the configuration file (see the table in "How to connect").
