# Increasing Conversion with Automated Tests in VTurb

# **Increasing Conversion with Automated Tests in VTurb**

VTurb's **automated tests** allow you to test different versions of elements in your Video Sales Letter (VSL) and identify, based on your leads' actual behavior, which versions perform better.
Instead of manually choosing which version to use, you can let VTurb distribute traffic between the different options and track the results of each one.

Currently, the following features support testing:
* **Smart Autoplay**
* **Turbo**
* **Headlines**
* **A/B Testing**

Each of these features works at a different stage of the lead's journey and can impact metrics such as **Play Rate, Engagement, Retention, Clicks, Conversion, and Revenue**.

| **Important:** For automated tests involving Smart Autoplay, Turbo, and Headlines, **Conversion Tracking** must be enabled.

## **How do automated tests work?**

When configuring an automatic test, you add two or more versions of a specific feature. VTurb then distributes the traffic among these versions and tracks the results of each one.
As the test collects data, VTurb can identify which version performs better. Once a winning version is identified, it starts receiving **100% of the traffic**.
This means you don't need to choose in advance which version you believe will perform best: the behavior of your leads itself helps you find the most effective option.
👉 It's important to remember that tests need **sufficient traffic and data** to identify a winning version. In other words, the more people participate in the test, the more data will be available for analysis, and the faster the test will be completed.

You can also, within Autoplay, Headline, and Turbo tests, define the statistical significance that will be considered to finalize the test, as follows:

# Smart Autoplay

With VTurb Autoplay, your video starts playing automatically, attracting more people to watch it! If the browser blocks Autoplay, don't worry — VTurb starts the video without sound and displays a message encouraging the user to click, creating a more dynamic experience and helping increase the number of people who start watching your VSL.
In addition to the Autoplay layout, you can also use different **Background Videos** and test which combinations attract the most attention from your audience.

### **Smart Autoplay Automated Test**

With the automated test, you can have different Autoplay versions compete against each other. VTurb distributes traffic between the versions and tracks the results of each one.
The test can have a significant impact on **Play Rate**, since Autoplay is one of the first elements with which the lead interacts on the page.
It's also important to look at metrics such as **Retention to Pitch, Conversion, and Revenue**, since the version that generates more plays isn't necessarily the one that generates more sales.
The goal is to find the Autoplay that not only captures the lead's attention but also contributes to better results throughout the funnel.

You can manually end the test at any time, but we recommend waiting until VTurb determines the winning version.

The test is automatically ended when VTurb identifies a statistically significant winner, displaying the winning Autoplay as **active** and a success message on your dashboard: *“Congratulations, you increased your conversions by X%!”*

With at least 100 views, you can select a winner for your test. Once you declare one of the variables as the winner, only it will be displayed in your video.

# Turbo

**Turbo** allows you to change the playback speed of your VSL, making it possible for leads to consume the content at a faster pace.
You can manually choose the playback speed or use the **Automated Speed Test** to find out which setting delivers the best results for your audience.

### **Turbo Automated Test**

In the automatic test, VTurb compares different playback speeds and tracks lead behavior at each one.
The goal is to discover which playback speed delivers the best results in terms of **conversions**.
A higher playback speed may allow the lead to move through the content more quickly, while a lower speed may provide a more comfortable viewing experience.
Therefore, there isn't necessarily one speed that works best for every audience. The test allows you to discover which setting performs best **for your VSL and your audience**!
At the end of the test, **VTurb automatically determines the winning version**, with **Conversion as the main criterion for determining the best performance**.

The data is updated every two to three minutes.

You can end the test at any time, but we recommend waiting until VTurb determines the winning playback speed!
Once the test reaches statistical significance, we will automatically end the test! We will announce the result with a message showing the increase in conversion compared to the 1x speed. We will also send you a WhatsApp message with the same information!

# Headlines

The **Headline** is one of the first elements a lead sees on your page and can be used to capture attention, generate curiosity, and encourage visitors to watch the VSL.
A good Headline should be aligned with the promise made in your ad and with the content presented in the video.

### **Headline Automated Test**

In VTurb, you can create different Headline versions and put them against each other in an **automatic test**.
VTurb distributes the traffic among the different versions and tracks lead behavior to identify which one performs best.
The main expected impact is on the **Play Rate**, since a more compelling Headline can increase the number of people who decide to watch the video, with the ultimate goal of increasing **conversions**.
However, just like with the other tests, it's important to look at the video's overall performance. A Headline may generate a higher Play Rate but not necessarily lead to more sales.
That's why metrics such as **Pitch Retention, Conversion, and Revenue** are also important for identifying the version that actually delivers the best results.
At the end of the test, **VTurb automatically determines the winning version**, with **Conversion as the main criterion for determining the best performance**.

If you choose to manually end the test, you will receive a notification informing you of the end date, along with a note that no version has been determined as the winner.

If VTurb automatically ends the test, a winning Headline will be declared, along with a notification.

With at least 100 views, you can select a winner for your test. Once you declare one of the variables as the winner, only it will be displayed in your video.

# A/B Testing

**A/B Testing** allows you to compare different VSL versions and determine which one performs best.
Unlike Smart Autoplay, Turbo, and Headline tests, A/B Testing allows you to directly test **different videos or video configurations**.
VTurb allows you to define the percentage of traffic each version will receive. For example, you can split traffic **50% for each VSL** or use a different distribution, such as **80% and 20%**.
During the test, you can analyze the performance of each version individually.

Some of the main metrics include:
* **Play Rate**
* **Engagement**
* **Button Clicks**
* **Conversions**
* **Conversion Rate**
* **Revenue**
* **RPV (Revenue per View)**

This allows you to understand not only which VSL generates more plays, but also which one can **keep leads engaged, generate more clicks, and ultimately generate more sales and revenue**.
Unlike the automated tests for Smart Autoplay, Turbo, and Headlines, **the winning VSL in an A/B Test is selected manually**. After analyzing the results, you can change the traffic distribution and direct **100% of the traffic to the chosen version**.

## **Which test should I use?**
Each test can be used to investigate a different part of your video:
| **Feature** | **What you can test** | **Main metrics impacted** |
| ---- |
| **Smart Autoplay** | Layout and background video | Play Rate, Retention, Conversion, and Revenue |
| **Turbo** | Video playback speed | Retention, Conversion, and Revenue |
| **Headlines** | Text or image above the VSL | Play Rate, Retention, Conversion, and Revenue |
| **A/B Testing** | Different VSLs or configurations | Play Rate, Engagement, Clicks, Conversion, Revenue, and RPV |

A good strategy is to analyze **which stage of your video has the main bottleneck** using your [Analytics](https://help.vturb.com/pt-br/article/como-funciona-o-analytics-1t9f528/) and the [Benchmarks](https://help.vturb.com/pt-br/article/como-usar-o-benchmarks-para-analisar-o-desempenho-do-seu-video-xnt6e4/) comparison tool.

1. If few people are starting the video, for example, it's worth testing elements that impact **Play Rate**, such as **Headlines and Smart Autoplay**.
2. If the Play Rate is good, but leads aren't progressing through the video, **Turbo** can help you find a more effective playback speed and improve **Retention**.
3. If the question is related to the VSL's content or structure itself, **A/B Testing** allows you to compare different versions of the video and understand which one performs best.

👉 With **VTurb's automatic tests**, you can use data generated by your own traffic to find the settings that work best for your audience and continuously improve your **Sales Video's performance**.
